Hi friends!!! Are you ready for some footbaalll!? I’m a niners fan, but since, errr, they won’t be in the Superbowl this year (not even close unfortunately), I’m thrilled to cheer for the Sheriff, Peyton Manning. I’ve always had a crush on Payton; he keeps it classy and I can’t help but giggle during those Nationwide commercials…”crawfish shorts, i like your style..”. Gotta love it.
If you’re like me, you’re already thinking about your game day menu. I will definitely be serving these miso-glazed drummettes. They’re lip-smacking delicious and quick & easy to make. If you’ve never had a drummette, it is just a fancy word for the part of a chicken thigh that looks like a drumstick.
The glaze for these drummettes was created out of happenstance. When my mom visits, we usually head directly to the grocery store so she can buy everything she wants to cook for us. Pretty sweet, right?! After she departs, there’s usually a host of fun ingredients left. I remembered the miso was in the back of my fridge and saw that the expiration date was in a month. I couldn’t waste it…and so this miso glaze was born.
Ingredients
- 24 drummettes
- 1/2 cup of white miso paste
- 1/2 cup of soy sauce
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
- Vegetable oil
- Chives or green onion for garnish, optional
- Sesame seeds for garnish, optional
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Pat dry all the drummettes with a paper towel and place on a sheet pan lined with foil or parchment paper.
- Brush with olive oil and season with a pinch of pepper (I don’t put season with salt at this stage because the soy sauce in the glaze will already add salt)
- Place in the oven for 8 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix all the ingredients for the glaze (white miso paste, soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil).
- Remove the drummettes from the oven and brush with the miso glaze.
- Place in the oven for another 10 minutes.
- Remove from the oven, let cool, then top with the optional garnishes (chives or green onions and sesame seeds).
