I’m not sure how to start this post. I kept meaning to share at 3 months, then 6 months, and now we’re at 9 months! Time is not on my side friends! It is crazy to me that it’s already been a year since I announced our pregnancy!
Well here goes…my best summary at 9 months. Ellie is the SMILIEST baby. I mean, our son Braden is a really happy kid. But Ellie is his level multiplied by three. Or maybe we forgot how he was minus the tantrums? Lol.
But really, she is happy, happy, happy! I have pretty much been taking her everywhere in a carrier since 1 month. I mean, that’s the life of the 2nd kid right?! We got things to do, and she’s coming with!
As soon as she started facing forward in the Bjorn, I would find myself being stopped during every errand. Like multiple times a day. And I soon realized it was because she stares and smiles at E-V-E-R-Y-ONE. And I mean look at this grin, doesn’t it just make you smile too?! Many people would stop me to say that her smile just made their day. And I mean, how great a feeling is that!?
It really feels like she’s our lil’ family cheerleader. In fact, just this week she started throwing her hands in the air everytime we say ‘Yay!’
Now, on the other hand, I realized that she is happy, happy, happy…UN-L-E-S-S she doesn’t like something. And one thing she doesn’t like is NOT being with mommy. When I returned to work a couple months ago, we had a bit of a tough transition. It felt like she was constantly shouting ‘I DON’T LIKE THIS! AND I’M GOING TO KEEP TELLING YOU’. And then of course the 8 month separation anxiety set in too. But now, she has gotten passed it as I knew she would and she is having loads of fun with her nanny and the rest of the family. And that makes ME so happy.
For awhile Ellie was still figuring out her big brother. I felt like she would look at him, wondering what to do with him, and then to look to me to say ‘Yes, you like him’. But now, they seem to have their own language. When he gets home from school, it’s like she took a shot of espresso. Her arms start bouncing and her legs start kicking SO MUCH! He screams, she babbles, they imitate each other, and my heart just explodes.
Of course then he smothers her and she starts pulling his hair and then he gets upset and then I have to separate them. And I see the next several years ahead of them loving and fighting each other. Life with two!
Ellie already loves her Daddy so much. It used to be that she knew him as the one who would interrupt her nursing moments with mommy. She would often shoot him her best ‘What do you think you’re doing?’ look. Lol.
But now I see that she’s totally going to be a Daddy’s girl! When he gets home from work, she smiles the biggest grin, her eyes crinkle, and she pulls her little hands to her chin as if to say ‘Ooooh! Daddy’s home! Yay, he’s the fun one.’
Ok so there’s so much more, but that’s a brief summary of life right now. I need to run out to pick up Braden, but just a few more things to share about Ellie before I go and forget!
Ellie loves books, playing outside, stroller walks, and is finally happy in the car seat! Thank you Lord!! There was a time when she hated the car seat and would scream! So having her love and fall asleep easily in the car seat is a very welcome transition.
She adores music! Her favorite songs are Baby Beluga and her Hanon Hanchol lullaby soundtrack. And when you sing to her, she likes to sway and kind of sing back. I often catch her sort of singing in her car seat when we have the music on.
Oh and I haven’t talked about Ellie’s love for food yet. Doh. She is going to like carbs friends and pretty much all food (like her mama!). She is obsessed with bread, mashed potatoes, rice, sweet potatoes, her baby puffs, and baby crackers (Mum mums). And if I would let her have a piece of pizza, she would do her best to gum the whole thing down small enough to swallow. She has two little teeth, but a little ways to go before pizza is part of her weekly diet.
She’s a petite one. No surprise there given my size. But she is mighty! She has a super strong grip when she wants something and a rather fast karate chop type wave when she doesn’t want something. She also loves to make spitting noises when she doesn’t like something. Like a lot of spitting noises.
I’m so excited to see what she’ll do next! This is one of the best ages! And I’m just trying to soak up every minute before she’s in kindergarten like her brother will be soon! EEEEk!!
Thanks as always for reading friends! And have a wonderful long weekend with your family and friends!!
